Braiins OS tested under TÜV SÜD supervision: more hashrate, lower power, better efficiency–proven in a controlled environment.
When hashprice falls, that doesn’t mean miners have to take the hit. The right firmware optimizes efficiency–cutting power consumption while increasing hashrate.
But claims alone aren’t enough. Mining requires proof. So we put Braiins OS to the test–under TÜV’s supervision, in a controlled environment, with real hardware.
TÜV (Technischer Überwachungsverein, or Technical Inspection Association) is a globally recognized authority in product testing and certification–from industrial machinery to advanced electronics.
Their labs are designed to eliminate external factors and precisely measure power consumption, ensuring accurate, unbiased results. That’s why we tested Braiins OS there–measuring real performance under scientific conditions.
All tests were conducted at TÜV SÜD’s energy lab in Germany, inside a controlled thermal chamber that eliminated external variables and precisely measured power consumption.
Precisely controlled environment
We ran multiple tests to compare Braiins OS against stock firmware, measuring efficiency, power consumption, and hashrate performance under controlled ambient conditions.
We tested two models–the S19k Pro 120T and the S19j Pro 104T. For these tests, we first ran the miners at stock firmware to get a baseline for comparison. Then, we ran tests with both a power target in watts (W) and a hashrate target in terahash per second (TH/s).
As you can see, Braiins OS found greater efficiency performance in all four tests.
The stock firmware of the S19k Pro 120T ran an average of 122.4 TH/s while consuming 2,835.3 Watts. With Braiins OS, setting a power target of 2,766.9 Watts, the machine ran 122.6 TH/s–a 2.62% efficiency boost. With Braiins OS, setting a hashrate target of 121.7 TH/s, the machine consumed only 2,695.2 Watts–a 4.46% efficiency boost.
The stock firmware of the S19j Pro 104T ran an average of 102 TH/s while consuming 3,080.0 Watts. With Braiins OS, setting a power target of 2,847.7 Watts, the machine ran 106 TH/s–a 12.47% efficiency boost. With Braiins OS, setting a hashrate target of 101.1 TH/s, the machine consumed 2,883.3 Watts–a 5.89% efficiency boost.
The bottom line is this–Braiins OS helps you mine bitcoin more efficiently, regardless of your power target.
ASIC miners are built with hundreds of individual chips, each with slight variations in performance due to manufacturing tolerances. Stock firmware treats all chips the same, ignoring the fact that some can handle higher frequencies while others require lower voltages to stay stable.
Autotuning in Braiins OS solves this inefficiency by:
Autotuning allows miners to optimize for any power target while maximizing hashrate per watt–giving them a major edge in profitability and hardware lifespan.
Alternatively, miners can set a hashrate target, optimizing power draw for a fixed hashrate output.
Generally, there are two additional power strategies than the stock setting–overclocking and underclocking. Overclocking is when a miner consumes more power than normal in order to increase hashrate. This often leads to a drop in efficiency, as you are pushing the chips to their limits in exchange for more hashrate. Underclocking, on the other hand, is lowering your power use in order to mine more efficiently. This raises your profitability, as you consume less power but have more hashrate relative to the miner’s stock efficiency.
Autotuning maximizes both overclocking and underclocking, so whatever strategy you use, make sure you incorporate Autotuning.
For miners, every percentage point of efficiency matters. Over time, the difference between stock firmware and optimized custom firmware can mean:
Simply put: If you’re not running Braiins OS, you’re leaving bitcoin on the table.
Autotuning is essential for any bitcoin mining operation. Without it, you’re leaving sats on the table.
Our aftermarket firmware has more features such as Dynamic Performance Scaling, which increases lifespan like Autotuning, while also helping with thermal regulation and temperature control. For more information on DPS, read this detailed article.
